You’re adventurous, adorable, an adamant little imp.
You’re determination is delicious and driven solely by desire
You drink deeply from the fountains of life: impatient
To own the knowledge of the world and to call it your own.

A child of the universe, you abandon yourself to the joy of laughter.
Your progress brings happiness to all of those that love you. I watch as you run and race through the days. You ravish precious minutes and then by chance you fall! Another scrape, another scar, it’s all a victory to you.

You unite all that is wonderful, my wicked little godchild.
Your wanting is my weakness; you’re the one that’s in control.
Your courage is inherent and your strength of soul sufficient to face
The tempests of the years and to challenge them in battle.

Your playful eyes are twinkling; they’re as blue as you are bold and
You try desperately to get your words out as quickly as you think them.
You hop from foot to foot in your haste to tell a tale and intoxicating words spill freely from your mouth as you try to catch up.

You’re a mirror-image of myself when I was only four and
Reflection floods my vision as childhood memories are reborn.
Quite simply, you’re a miracle, my messy “monkey-noodle”.
You’re the perfect combination – a terror, yet sublime.

You’re insatiable, incorrigible, quite impossible at times, but your
Mind is not yet clouded, you are unconditioned yet to life.
In your little corner of the world you let nothing block your path;
Your faith is all consuming and your hope inspires desire.

Don’t ever change, dear Emma – you’re a joy yet self-possessed!
