Good morning my name is BRETT GOODBAN and I am looking at some advice regarding induced coma patients .

My story is very interesting in that I am one of a kind and have been through hell in the past two years with induced coma and death and recovery .
I am now very strongly interested in providing support to other patients that have been in induced comas and near death experiences .

I have begun looking at what I can do for the future to use my experience to advice and help not only patient but also family’s who may not know what to say and do around there love ones during there coma .
I have a very strong knowledge on every part of my coma the nightmares the talking around me whilst I was asleep and I saw things in my coma that was going on around me as I was sleeping that not only helped me during my nightmares but also didn’t help I am very confident that after what happened to me can and will help others going through the same thing as there is not experience with out experiencing yourself .

My story is that of not only a miracle but 100s of them it all started in TOKYO 2014 at xmas time on holidays with my family for xmas and new years in the snow .
We flew out of my home town of CAIRNS QLD on the 12th Dec 2014 and I was looking like I was never coming home with my wife and kids .
After about 1 week in JAPAN I started to become very sick and started to cough up blood and become very very tied my wife said she was worried about me however as a man I thought it will be ok I am not going to ruin my family’s holiday I will be fine .

Little did I know that was the biggest mistake I could have ever mad as at the time my longs where filling with blood and my body was shutting down .
A few days passed and I got so much worse I was taken to a hospital in JAPAN that said I just had a bad case of the flu and gave me some drugs and sent me home this decision from them was about to end my life .
It was almost xmas day and I could not lay flat and I was coughing more blood and was turning pale I said to my wife I just want to give my boys there xmas presents xmas morning I just want to do that before I go to hospital as I thought I was going to die that day .
At around 11am xmas morning my wife said that’s it I am calling a ambulance that’s the last memory I have until waking up in ICU IN PRINCE CHARLES HOSPITAL BRISBANE on the 12th march 2015 .

What happened whilst I was asleep was nothing short of a miracle with the hospitals in japan and Australia and care flight gold coast
I was looked after buy the ALFRED HOSPITAL MELBOURE THE PRINCE CHARLES IN BRISBANE CAREFLIGHT ON THE GOLD COAST AND TOKYO UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL JAPAN .

Over 4 weeks they worked out how to get me home I had a massive pulmonary embolism and kidney and liver failure my lungs were full of blood and I had over 300 blood clots in my body and my heart was at 5% I had died 2 times in Tokyo hospital then put into a induced coma and put on ECMO in TOKYO I would need to stay on that until I got to Australia however the equipment would never fir on care flights flying ICU so they contacted MARQUET and said to them is the portable ECMO ready to be used yet they said it was still in the trial stage however my doctors said we need it to get this father of 3 from Tokyo to Australia or he will die .

So over 4 weeks the teams re wrote the medical book to work out how to do something that had never been done before anywhere in the world and that was to transport such a critically ill patient over such a long distance on PORTABLE ECMO and kidney dialysis .

However they did and I am here alive today to tell my story
I have two major open heart operations to remove the hundreds of blood clots and I broke the record for the most amount of blood used in a surgery of over 248 bags .

On April 12 2015 i returned home to cairns with my family thanks to the miracle workers around the world that kept me alive
I have been trying to work out how I would like to give back and I feel that my experiences and what I heard and felt in my coma would help family’s and patients all over Australia .
However I am finding it hard to get started I would love to come to hospitals and tell my story to medical staff or doctors or nurses to maybe help them understand what the patient is going through as they sleep however it is important to note that my experience is with INDUCED COMA PATIENTS NOT NATURAL .

I am happy to fly anywhere to tell my story to patients family’s doctors nurses anybody that might get some benefit out of my experience .

I am a very good speaker and I am very approachable and I am caring and sensitive to peoples problems and I would just love to be able to help people all over Australia with this as there is know help from experience induced coma patients anywhere in Australia and I think I can help and be that person .
